Myofascial Release:
Myofascial release provides an indirect, non intrusive approach to soft tissue manipulation; gently moving tissue at the surface level, releasing tight fascia and helping to stimulate the body’s ability to re-align itself.
Fascia is the tissue that surrounds and connects all of the structures in the body. This connective tissue can become dehydrated, hardened and stuck. Restrictions can develop in the fascia from trauma, poor posture and repetitive strain. During a myofascial release session, a low load stretch is put into the tissue for a period of approximately 2 minutes, and then the hands follow the fascia melting path as tissue rehydrates and releases. This is a very relaxing and effective therapy, fascilitating the body’s innate healing mechanisms to realign bony structures and release deep seated tension and trauma. This technique provides an effective addition / alternative to massage for the more sensitive animals, and sometimes proves to be better than other physical therapies at releasing stubborn areas of tightness, allowing joints to realign. This is my personal favorite.

Ridgway Acupoint Therapy:
Dr. Kerry Ridgway, an amazing man and mentor, discovered unique acupoints outside of the traditional Chinese points that are a myofascial based system. Stimulating these acupoints relaxes fascial tension in whole muscle groups. In this therapy those specific points are stimulated by a cold laser to facilitate a softening of the myofascial networks thereby freeing up restrictions to allow for increased freedom of movement. This can be used as a stand alone modality, however I will always stimulate at least a couple of the master points to complete most any bodywork session. |
Massage:
Equine Massage Therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body which includes muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. It follows similar principles to human sports massage because, like people, animals can suffer from muscular pain and discomfort which can inhibit the way they move causing them to use their body incorrectly to compensate and is where many ridden problems stem from. Using my hands, I can feel for any muscle swellings, tightness, spasms, stress points and uneven muscle tone across your horse’s body. Using a combination of different massage techniques I can work to relieve the areas that are causing your horse discomfort or preventing him from moving at his best. |
Magna Wave PEMF:
Magna Wave is like a massage on steroids. PEMF stands for pulsating electro-magnetic field therapy. In this therapy I place a coil on the body. PEMF bathes the body's cells in electro-magnetic frequencies which improves the flow of blood and oxygen to the tissues and the flow of ions and nutrients in to the cells. It puts energy back in to the body by exciting the power producing mitochondria. These processes facilitate improved healing and repair within one's body. It is FDA approved for healing non-union fractures, incontinence and depression. A specific type of PEMF has been found to slow the growth of an aggressive form of brain cancer, glioblastoma. Some of the benefits of PEMF include:
